Ruislip, Northwood & Pinner Constituency
The constituency was formed after the 2005 general election following a boundary change. It consists of 9 local authority election wards:
Pinner, Pinner South, Hatch End wards fall within the London Borough of Harrow and the Brent/Harrow Greater London Authority Constituency.
Eastcote & Ruislip, West Ruislip, Ickenham, Harefield, Northwood and Northwood Hills wards are in the London Borough of Hillingdon and the Ealing/Hillingdon Greater London Authority Constituency.
The electorate in each of the wards, except Harefield, elects 3 councillors. Harefield has a smaller electorate and has 2 councillors.
At the time of the 2001 census:
- The total population of the constituency was 89,332, of which 42,343 were male and 46,989 female
- Young people under the age of 16 make up 19% of the population with those aged over 65 making up 18%
- Nearly 17% of the population is of black and ethnic minority origin
- 77% of the population either own their home outright or have a mortgage or loan.
- 12% rent their home from the council or housing association and just under 8% rent from a private landlord.
